Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to hire a bookkeeper?

Pricing is tailored to the needs of each individual business. My average client spends between $250-400 per month for full service bookkeeping.

I use Quickbooks already. Do I really need a bookkeeper?

QuickBooks is a powerful tool, but it's only as accurate as the information entered into it. Think of QuickBooks as the vehicle and your bookkeeper as the driver. Having the software doesn't automatically ensure transactions are categorized correctly, accounts are reconciled, or financial reports are accurate. A bookkeeper helps: Ensure transactions are recorded correctly Reconcile bank and credit card accounts Catch errors before they become costly problems Keep financial reports accurate and meaningful Prepare your books for your accountant at tax time Help you understand what your numbers are telling you Many business owners use QuickBooks successfully on their own. However, as a business grows, bookkeeping often becomes more time-consuming and complex. Whether you need ongoing bookkeeping or simply periodic reviews and guidance, having a professional involved can provide confidence that your financial information is accurate and reliable.

I already have an accountant. How is a bookkeeper different?

Your bookkeeper and accountant are on the same team, but they play different roles. A bookkeeper works with your finances throughout the year, keeping your records organized, accurate, and up to date. We reconcile accounts, track income and expenses, review your financial reports, and help you understand what your numbers are telling you right now. An accountant typically steps in for tax preparation, tax planning, compliance, and higher-level financial or tax advice. Because your bookkeeping is kept current and accurate, your accountant can do their job more efficiently—which can save you time, stress, and sometimes even money at tax time. Your accountant helps you understand what happened last year and how to handle taxes. Your bookkeeper helps you understand what's happening in your business right now.

What if I don't need ongoing bookkeeping. Can you just help me get started?

That's perfectly fine. Not every business needs ongoing bookkeeping services. If you're looking for help setting up your accounting system, organizing your chart of accounts, or learning how to manage your books yourself, I can provide training and guidance to help you build a solid financial foundation. If your needs change later, I'm always here to help.

When do I need to hire a bookkeeper?

A good rule of thumb is to hire a bookkeeper when the time you're spending on your books is taking you away from activities that generate revenue. As a business owner, your time is often more valuable spent serving clients, growing your business, and increasing profits than managing financial records. A bookkeeper can help free up your time while ensuring your financial information remains accurate and up to date.

Do you offer payroll services?

Yes! We offer payroll services for businesses that pay employees on a monthly salary schedule or a bi-monthly/hourly payroll schedule. Because every business has unique payroll needs, pricing is customized based on factors such as the number of employees, pay frequency, and overall complexity. We'll work with you to create a payroll solution that fits your business and ensures your employees are paid accurately and on time.
